Dr. Koulla Parpa

Introduction

Dr. Koulla Parpa is an Assistant Professor in Sport and Exercise Science at UCLan Cyprus and the Course Leader of the MSc Sport and Exercise Science programme. She holds a PhD and MSc in Exercise Science from the University of Arkansas and a BSc in Kinesiology with a specialization in Physiotherapy from Semmelweis University, Hungary. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the European College of Sports Science.

Dr. Parpa's academic and research expertise includes anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, rehabilitation, injury prevention, athletic performance, and health promotion. Her research focuses particularly on developing and evaluating interventions for injury prevention, enhancing performance among elite and sub-elite athletes, and promoting health in both clinical and healthy populations. She has also conducted research on the 2D:4D digit ratio and its potential relevance to sport and medicine.

Since joining UCLan Cyprus in 2014, Dr. Parpa has held several teaching and leadership roles and has contributed extensively to research, postgraduate supervision, international projects, and professional academic activities. Her work includes numerous peer-reviewed publications and international conference presentations, particularly in the areas of football performance, exercise physiology, strength and flexibility, injury risk, and physical fitness.
